Coronavirus Outbreak and Travel Insurance Coverage

The situation with Covid-19 is constantly evolving. We are closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as we have them.

Our travelers and their travel plans are always our top priority. In order to help you better understand your travel insurance coverage or any potential purchases, we’re sharing the latest news and current travel protections offered. If you are considering canceling or changing your trip, please refer to your plan documentation for specific coverages.

Trip Mate is monitoring Covid-19, and the impact on travel.  Please refer to the World Health Organization (WHO) and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) websites for the most current information on Covid-19.

Your travel protection

We encourage our travelers to read their plan documentation for details regarding your available coverage. If you purchased a travel protection plan, you may be eligible for coverage and benefits depending purchase date and your specific plan.

  • Trip Cancellation, Interruption: If you are quarantined you may be eligible for coverage.
    Canceling or interrupting due to a covered Sickness (requiring treatment at the time of your Trip Cancellation or Trip Interruption) from Covid-19 may also be covered.
    Additional covered reasons may apply.
  • Travel Delay, Missed Connection: If, during your trip, you are delayed/miss your trip departure due to a quarantine or a common carrier delay, you may be eligible for coverage. Please refer to your plan document regarding number of hours for eligibility.
  • Medical Expense: If you contract Covid-19 while on your Trip, you may have coverage for Covered Expenses incurred during Your Trip.  Please check your Schedule of Benefits to ensure that you have this coverage.
  • Cancel for Any Reason: ­­­­If the plan has Cancel for Any Reason benefit this will allow the passenger(s) to cancel for any reason.  Please check your plan document to determine if time sensitive requirements have been met and the specific benefits available.  Please note, this is not an insurance benefit in certain plans.
